"I was born in a dark year, the last year the Leafs won the cup--and they defeated Les Canadiens to do it. It struck me after we celebrated our 50th podcast that I should share that I am looking forward to celebrating my 50th birthday and the Leafs 50th year without the Cup next year.

With a little luck, I will celebrate my centenary and the Leafs centenary without the Cup in 2067."

This poignant reflection comes from Habsworld co-host Paul Macleod, after we recorded our golden anniversary podcast with Jonathan Rebelo and myself, Norm Szcyrek. Topics discussed spanned the Habs games of the previous two weeks, including their 5 game road trip, the unfortunate injuries to Alex Galchenyuk and David Desharnais, the 10-1 defeat of Colorado, another epic clash with the Bruins, some around the NHL topics including the first NHL coach fired this season, and more. This podcast was recorded the evening of December 13, 2016.

November 25, 2016 07:27 AM PST

The last few weeks of Canadiens games were discussed, along with some reminiscing about past Habs injuries, and an in depth discussion based on a forum question about the Habs youngsters and who we have the highest hopes for succeeding. We also talked about a few of the struggling Habs players, the handling/mishandling of Greg Pateryn, a post game analysis of the then just completed home victory over Carolina, the Las Vegas expansion team with regards to the Habs mandatory protected players, a little about some non-hockey topics, and more. This podcast was recorded the evening of November 24th 2016.

The 2016-17 season premiere of the Habsworld podcast had the full crew in attendance. Hosts Jonathan Rebelo, Paul Macleod joined Norm Szcyrek to discuss the Canadiens strong start to the season after the first dozen games. Is it too soon to celebrate their success, or do Montreal fans need to take a wait-and-see approach? The newcomers to the team were all discussed, including Shea Weber, Andrew Shaw, Alexander Radulov, Arturi Lehkonnen, and Al Montoya. We also talked about the embarrassing 10-0 loss against Columbus, the demotion of rookie Mikhail Sergachev, the cold and hot streaks of a few Habs players, and a few discussions about topics around the NHL. This podcast was recorded the evening of November 9, 2016.

Is the Habs glass half full or half empty? That is what Habsworld podcast hosts Norm Szcyrek, Jonathan Rebelo and Paul Macleod debated while discussing the teams current slump. Recent trades and player moves were also reviewed along with other news from around the NHL. This podcast was recorded the evening of January 16, 2016. We encountered technical difficulties near the middle of this podcast recording; our apologies for this issue.
